Understanding Mold
Mold produces allergens, irritants, and toxic substances. Believe it or not, mold spores serve an important role in our ecosystem. The purpose of mold spores is to break down organic materials to be re-introduced into our environment. For example, leaves are broken down into the soil.
All mold species are allergens. Some species contain Mycotoxins (disease-producing toxins). Many species are used in antibiotics, foods, and cosmetics. Mold spores become harmful when allowed to proliferate un-restricted. Mold spores start to grow within 24-48 hours of being activated by water and or high humidity and are exacerbated by poor air circulation.
Trained Professionals
At Puritan, our supervisors and technicians are trained and certified by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration (IICRC) and follow the guidelines of the IICRC S520 Standard for Professional Mold Remediation.
In addition to our remediation procedures, the training includes safety practices to avoid cross-contamination and personal protection measures. Our team of field specialists also receives additional education to maintain their certification.
